Hello everyone, my name is Awethu Njomane, I reside in Cape Town. On the 12th of April 2021, I went to my friends birthday party celebration at night. Her cousins little brother came out of the blue playing with a gun. We all got so scared and he started pointing the gun at me, I couldn’t hold my tears. He shot me in my thigh, the saddest part is that they were watching me while I was in pain for about 2 hours.

After hours of suffering in pain, they took me to the nearest hospital. My ex-friend took the clothes I was wearing that day to clear the evidence because they thought I won’t make it alive. My mother was worried when she saw that all the people i was partying with are back and I haven’t arrived. She then one of my friends and she literally lied and said “she doesn’t know where I was.”

After 3 days her mother came to my house and brought the news that I’m hurt, i got shot by people who they don’t know. Mind you, I was in ICU, couldn’t talk for 6 months. My mother was loosing it, she went all out looking for help as you know how public hospitals are towards patients.

I was in pain, I just wanted to die but God carried me through the pain. The doctors told my mother the only option they have is to cut my leg, or I die. That was the big decision to take, days went by as my mother thought they would say there’s another option but unfortunately there was no other option.

That is how I lost my my leg, they killed my confidence you’d think I’m confident enough to go out but I’m not everyday. I’m thinking about that day, I still hear the gun shots, having nightmares. I’ve been looking around for sponsers to donate artificial leg, I’m not asking for money all I’m asking for is the leg if you know someone who could help please tag them. I’m really struggling.
