With just a week before the start of the 2023/24 season, teams are finalising their pre-season preparations, the signings have been made and there is still enough time to get a couple of players where they might feel they still have to, they have at least seven days to finalise their starting line-up and make sure that they are ready for the first game of the season, however, teams have been engaged in pre-season friendlies matches and Kaizer Chiefs have lost two of their games which they played in Tanzania and Botswana respectively.
After having lost to Tanan giants Young Africa SC last weekend, Chiefs travelled to Botswana to visit Township Rollers on Saturday afternoon, the two sides played at the packed to capacity National stadium with fans from that country filling the stadium to capacity, their team did not disappointed as they were rewarded with a beautiful 1-0 victory over the South African giants.
The game was literally played at a slow pace, you could tell that this was a friend game since the players also did not look sharp, however, fans do not care about that, they expect their team to win each and every game they play, when you are Amakhosi, you are expected to win every game you ay, but unfortunately, that has not been the case with the Naturena based outfit in the recent years, they have been struggling and it does not look like their struggle is anywhere near the end.
After coming on as a second-half substitute, former Orlando Pirates wimger Thabo Rakhale punished the team from his country after receiving a long diagonal pass from the left side, it landed beautifully for him inside the box and he made no mistake as he beat the advancing Brice Bvuma who could not do anything to save the shot, it took 80 minutes for the fans to see the only goal of the game.
Chiefs tried their best to get an equalizer, however, they were not deadly when going forward, no clear cut scoring chances created as usual, they were their normal self who plays without purpose, not convincing and it looks like their fans are in for another painful season.
