Kaizer Chiefs has probably given a glimpse of what the fans can expect from them in the upcoming season. As they traveled to Tanzania to face Yanga Africans SC in a sold out Benjamin Mkapa Stadium. The only goal that was scored came from Yanga thanks to their star Kennedy Musonda who made sure that the 60 000 spectators get to the be entertained. Even though the goal came before the stoppage time, but it wasn’t an easy game for both side. As they were showing their pre-season preparations in the much-anticipated friendly match.
Chiefs head coach Molefi Ntseki decided to give most his new signings a run, as he wanted to see how they’ll perform in black and gold colours. It was expected for Amakhosi to struggle on certain parts of the game as they had to work different combinations. Hence, Ntseki felt that his charges pulled of a superb performance on the first half. Which was something that was worth it and helped the technical team to figure out the strengths and weaknesses of their squad. “I think it’s a preparation period. One step at a time. I think it was a good 60 minutes from those boys and they did very well,” Ntseki told Tanzania’s AzamTV afterwards.
Furthermore, the Glamour Boys coach stared that he couldn’t blame his players for the 1-0 loss to Yanga, as it was a good match to help them prepare for a busy upcoming campaign. Everything was a learning curve for the club and they’ll move forward with a better understanding of where they stand at the moment. “Apart, maybe, from a few moments where we allowed them to play through us. But to be honest, in terms of our team performance I’m happy,” said Ntseki speaking to the media.
