Tensions high as Al-Ahly refuses to give Percy Tau back to Europe

Following his exit from EPL’s Brighton Hove and Albion, a lot of football fans had written the South African foward off -but an upward trajectory in form has seen him transform the “boos” into praises.

In the middle of the 2022 to 2023 season, there had been ongoing rumours of European interests in the South African foward, with his former manager and now Burnley manager, Vincent Kompany, being the most talked about and the favourite to secure his services.

Al-Ahly refused to entertain any outside noise and notified fans that offers for Percy Tau would be looked at once the CAF champions league competition had ended; but it seems that the team now has other plans.

According to various media reports and close sources…AL Ahly has rejected an offer of a sum of $1.5 million( R 28,676534,00) from an undisclosed Emirates Club, seeking the services of Percy Tau. It is alleged that the team values Percy Tau at around $10 to $20 million as a negotiations starter.

Percy Tau has made great strides since signing for the Egyptian Giants. Since his arrival:

  • Egypt Cup
  • Egypt Super Cup x2
  • CAF Champions League
  • Egyptian Premier League

Many people projected Percy Tau’s career to tank as soon as Pitso Mosimane’s exit was announced, but he has since peaked and is regarded as one of the most excited forwards on the African continent.

Many South Africans have expressed their dissatisfaction with Al-Ahly’s transfer demands, and feel that Percy Tau should be allowed his move; as Europe is the only place where his footballing skills can not only improve but he as a player will be taken to another level.
