He’s only 17 years old, but Vicky Mkhawana might be ready to make some waves at Kaizer Chiefs before long.
NEW CHIEFS GENERATION TRAINING WITH THE FIRST TEAM
Amakhosi have invited six DStv Diski Challenge youngsters to first team training where they’ll undergo trials. The names in question are Mfundo Vilakazi, Takalani Mazhamba, Thulani Mabaso, Siyabonga Gumede, Puso Dithejane and Neo Bohloko.
“What I can tell you is that they have invited six players from the Diski Challenge side and these are the players who are earmarked for promotion,” the insider confirmed on SoccerLaduma.
“Some could be promoted full-time while others would be featuring for both Diski Challenge team and the senior team depending on what the technical team wants or needs that particular week or in a specific game,” he added.
WONDERKID TO KEEP AN EYE ON SOON
However, looking a bit further along the road, there’s another name to keep in your mind, and that’s 17-year-old Vicky Mkhawana. Born in January 2006, Mkhawana has starred for the South African U17 side, scoring four times in three appearances for AmaJimbos. The youngster is an attacking midfielder or “number 10” by trade but also enjoys operating as a second striker in a dangerous central role. Simply put, he loves to cause damage in the final third. Perhaps Vicky Mkhawana is the next name to get called up to train with the seniors.
