Percy Tau was named Man of the Match, as Al Ahly beat Al Ittihad to close in on their 43rd Egyptian Premier League title.
Tau, 29, assisted Al Ahly’s second goal by Kahraba, which came after 13 minutes already.
After just 10 minutes, Ali Maaloul had opened the scoring from the penalty spot, while Kahraba completed the club’s double just three minutes later.
Overall, Tau put in a quality display, making 55 touches, while completing 36 passes, with an accuracy rate of 83.7%. He also had two key passes, completed three out of three long balls and won five duels.
The performance saw Tau earn the Man of the Match award, but also put Al Ahly within touching distance of their record-extending 43rd league title.
The Egyptian giants haven’t won the league since 2019/20 but now need just two points from their final five games to secure the trophy.
Saturday’s win saw them move eight points clear of second-placed Pyramids, who have played two games more.
It means they only need to collect two more points to be crowned champions and complete the treble after already winning the Egyptian Super Cup and the CAF Champions League this season.
It would be Tau’s sixth trophy with Al Ahly, adding to his two Egyptian Super Cups, one Egyptian Cup, one CAF Super Cup and one CAF Champions League.
