Dr Ongama Mtimka, a lecturer at Nelson Mandela University, says that all the blames should go to Arthur Fraser for failing to cooperate with the Acting Public Protector, Advocate Kholeka Gcaleka. He was reacting to many social media users who are heaping blames on Advocate Kholeka Gcaleka, calling her the president Protector and not the Public Protector.

In defence of Advocate Kholeka Gcaleka, Dr Ongama Mtimka said that Arthur Fraser failed the public and also failed himself. He noted that laying accusations like that and not backing up his allegations will not yield any desired results. Dr Ongama Mtimka a lecturer in the department of history and political studies at Nelson Mandela University stated on Twitter, “It appears that Arthur Fraser failed his own exposé and, therefore, the public, by failing to cooperate with the public protector”.

However, many social media users disagree with his assumptions, saying that the Acting Public Protector want to be in Ramaphosa’s good book so that she can be appointed the Public Protector. One of them stated that what happened when Zondo was appointed as the Chief Justice will also happen for Advocate Kholeka Gcaleka, saying that she is after her own appointment.

One person wrote, “What more is needs from Arthur Fraser. Evidence is there for anyone to see… What source does she want for CR failing to declare foreign currency? What does she want to prove that CR is involved in Phalaphala activities while being state president?”. Another person stated that Advocate Kholeka Gcaleka is just looking for excuse.

He argued that there are videos where Ramaphosa admitted he is into buying and selling of animals, even as a president. He also said that the foreign currency were not declared, what more evidences and sources was she looking out for? Another person hinted, “So having undeclared foreign currency in your property is not crime in South Africa ?”.
