SAPS officers were left in shock after finding a bag filled with commercial and military explosives in Ermelo after a tip from the public. The information was received by the police, who immediately dispatched K9 Units from Ermelo, Standerton, and Whiteriver to the scene. Upon arrival, the K9 Units began to search the area and noticed something suspicious.

They dug up three bags, which contained commercial and military explosives. The explosives were confiscated, and the police are currently investigating the incident.

The police are urging anyone with information about the explosives to come forward. They can call the Crime Stop number at 08600 10111 or send an SMS to 32211. All information will be treated as confidential, and callers can remain anonymous.

The discovery of these explosives is a major security concern. The police are working to determine how the explosives came to be hidden in Ermelo, and who is responsible for placing them there. They are also working to ensure that the explosives are safely disposed of.

The police are grateful to the K9 Units for their quick response and for their help in recovering the explosives. They are also grateful to the members of the public who provided information about the explosives. The police urge the public to remain vigilant and to report any suspicious activity to the police. By working together, we can help to keep our communities safe.

The police are concerned that the explosives found in Ermelo could be used for terrorist purposes. They are working to determine whether the explosives were intended to be used in an attack on a specific target, or whether they were simply being stored for future use.

#sapsMP Yesterday 22/6/23 #SAPS Crime Intelligence in Ermelo recovered explosives that were hidden at Douglas dam in Ermelo. Anyone with info that may assist in the investigation to call the #CrimeStop number 08600 10111 or #MySAPSApp. All received info will be treated as… pic.twitter.com/H8bMoVR6hM
