Vincent Magwenya stated that since they came, they have not heard any explosion, and they have seen people moving about their businesses, saying that there were no signs of explosion as the Ukrainian minister had claimed. Furthermore, the Ukrainian foreign minister seems to be drawing Africans into the conflict by insinuating that the missile launched by Russia towards Kyiv is a message to African leaders.
Social media users are arguing who among them could be saying the truth. However, since they have been conducting president Cyril Ramaphosa and other African leaders around Ukraine, they have not reported any explosion, yet, the Ukrainian foreign minister claimed that the missile was launched.
Regarding the explosion, Vincent Magwenya wrote, “Strangely, we didn’t hear the sirens or explosions. #AfricanPeaceMission program is proceeding as planned”. Vincent Magwenya emphasised his earlier statement claiming that they didn’t hear any explosion as some media platforms are writing dismissing such to be propaganda. He stated on Twitter, “And we didn’t hear any explosions.
Instead, we saw people going on about their day leisurely. Everything seems normal from what we have experienced thus far”. However, “the presidential spokesperson says that the treatment received by PPS members and journalists in Poland, on board the South African charter flight is very unfortunate and deeply regrettable. Our officials remain engaged with their Polish counterparts in trying to resolve the situation”.
