According to reports, Zuki Lamani needs assistance paying her R240 000 UCT bill before she can re-register. The cost was significantly higher than expected for someone who wanted to study, and many people wondered if she was trying to con them. At the University of Cape Town, Zuki Lamani is pursuing a Bachelor of Arts in Linguistics and Media Studies. When Musa Khawula returned to Twitter, he published the information.
This is what the student said: “My name is Zukhanye Lamani, a finalist student of The University of Cape Town currently studying towards a Bachelor of Arts in Linguistics and Media Studies.
I am a young woman from Khayelitsha in Cape Town. I entered the University of Cape Town for its prestige and for the promise of a future brighter than my background.
My decision to venture into Media Studies and Linguistics was fuelled by my passion for language and how it can be used to break barriers and propel transformation in young people. I am appealing to you to please assist me with my university fees because without them, I cannot graduate and I will not be able to participate in the job market rendering me as part of the unemployed youth.
My current fee balance at UCT is R239 432,11 incurring 1% interest every month. I have applied for NSFAS but I was rejected because of the R350k household income cap. I form part of the “missing middle” in South Africa with a household income of less than R600 000. I have been denied registration at the institution because of their policy on fee blocks and, therefore, cannot continue with my studies.
I am a compassionate and tenacious young lady who is extremely passionate about education and innovation.
Any contribution and assistance in this matter would be greatly appreciated. ”
But some people couldn’t help but notice that she wears expensive stuff and also goes out eating Sushi , This leaves some wondering if she really needs the money or she just wants to scam people, some even suggest she sell her items while others think it’s fake.
