Recently, concerns about the safety of Busisiwe Mkhwebane, the suspended Public Protector, have continued to grow. Kim Heller was among the first to express apprehension, stating her fear for Mkhwebane’s well-being. Now, another individual named Brandon has echoed the sentiment, urging an increase in security measures for Mkhwebane.

Brandon took to Twitter, sharing a video and remarking, “Security around Public Protector Busisiwe Mkhwebane must be beefed up. It’s getting hot in the kitchen.” Heller, who had expressed similar concerns a day earlier, described the ongoing parliamentary hearing into Mkhwebane’s fitness as “truly terrifying,” emphasizing her worries about Mkhwebane’s safety. Throughout this period, friends and supporters of Mkhwebane have voiced their anxieties regarding her security.

Adding to the mounting unease, Richard Dyantyi, the chairperson of Section 194, revealed that the Parliamentary Ethics Committee had alerted him to an extortion complaint made by Advocate Busisiwe Mkhwebane. In response, political analyst Dr. Piet Croucamp asserted that the ANC should intervene and remove Dyantyi.

Brandon’s call for enhanced security measures for Mkhwebane coincided with this revelation, as concerns over her safety continue to persist. Mkhwebane has previously reported instances where she believed she and her family were being followed or surveilled by unfamiliar vehicles. Despite these worrying incidents, some well-meaning individuals and sympathizers have advised Mkhwebane to step down from her role as Public Protector, expressing grave concerns about her safety, as well as the safety of her family.

Expressing their opinions on the matter, a social media user named Bongekile observed that the ANC and DA MPs appear to be targeting Advocate Busisiwe Mkhwebane in an attempt to send a message to anyone who dares challenge establishment figures like Cyril, Pravin, and the DA. Bongekile further predicted that the next Public Protector would be rendered ineffective. These developments shed light on the increasingly tense situation surrounding Mkhwebane and highlight the underlying power dynamics and pressures faced by individuals who take on influential figures within the South African political landscape.
