Four days after a woman went missing last Monday, her corpse was found in an abandoned car in the Ingogo neighbourhood of Newcastle. The family apparently blames the woman’s spouse for her death.

After many years of service to the Department of Education, Cynthia Mtshali, a teacher from Abor Park, Newcastle, KwaZulu Natal, South Africa, retired in May 2022 with a pension of R6.7 million.

Mrs. Mtshali served as the church treasurer, but according to the source, she never came back from the bank with the funds.

Sbongiseni Mtshali, the deceased’s younger brother, told the source that the police had called to tell them that their sister’s car had been found in Ngogo. Since his sister’s phones and bag, but not her purse, were discovered at the scene of her death, the brother concluded that her husband must have known something about her disappearance.

I was astounded to find out that after retiring from Nquthu with a pension of R2.7 million, my sister was still struggling to make ends meet. When I asked about getting my hands on the cash, she assured me that I could do so right now. For a short while, I loaned her some cash. According to Sboniso, “I believe he stole all the money and ran because we won’t get a response if we try to contact her spouse by phone.”

All of the pastor’s belongings had been stolen when he returned to the rental house, and no one in the neighbourhood had seen him in over two weeks.

A murder investigation has been launched in the KwaZulu Natal area, a South African police spokesperson, Constable Thenjiswa Ngcobo, revealed to the source.
