After posting on Instagram that she had been admitted to the hospital, author and activist Zoleka Mandela began to receive prayers and well wishes.
The When Hope Whispers author reported in August of last year that she had been diagnosed with cancer in her lungs, liver, ribs, spinal cord, and hips. She is the granddaughter of the late South African former president, Nelson Mandela. She had two cases of breast cancer before surviving them.
On Tuesday, May 16, Zoleka updated her Instagram followers on her cancer journey by revealing that she was admitted on Saturday and has been in the hospital ever since.
“I was admitted to the hospital on Saturday morning and have been having radiation to my spine and pelvis while waiting for chemotherapy to stop the spread of the disease in my body.
It will take a while, but I am grateful for the efforts the medical team and medical personnel have done to improve my health. I can’t wait to see my kids again at home! “Peace, passion, and positivity,” wrote Zoleka.
The mother of six announced last month that she had reached the point in her life where she was preparing for her eventual death.
