The news of Simon Dikgale’s death has left the community of Seshego in deep sorrow. The 32-year-old educator was a dedicated teacher, loved by his students and colleagues alike.

The news of his suicide has shocked everyone who knew him, leaving many asking what could have pushed him to take such a drastic step.

Dikgale’s suicide note, which was found at the scene, revealed that he was struggling with financial difficulties. He had taken out several loans to pay for his studies and was finding it hard to keep up with the repayments.

In the note, he expressed his regret for not being able to provide for his family and his frustration at not being able to find a way out of his situation.

His WhatsApp status message has also raised concerns about his state of mind in the hours leading up to his death. The message was cryptic and seemed to suggest that he was struggling with something that he couldn’t share with others.

The news of Dikgale’s death has brought attention to the issue of financial stress among educators. Many teachers, especially those in rural areas, are underpaid and overworked, making it difficult for them to make ends meet. The COVID-19 pandemic has also added to the financial burden, with many teachers having to take pay cuts or even losing their jobs.

Dikgale’s colleagues at Mohlapetse Secondary School have expressed their shock and sadness at his death. They described him as a passionate educator who always put his students first. His students have also expressed their grief, with many posting tributes on social media, describing him as a kind and caring teacher who went above and beyond to help them succeed.

The community of Seshego has come together to mourn the loss of Dikgale. Many have expressed their condolences to his family and friends, and some have even set up a fundraising campaign to help his family with their financial struggles.

The incident has also sparked a conversation about the need for better support for educators who are struggling with financial stress. The South African Democratic Teachers Union (SADTU) has called for the government to provide better salaries and working conditions for teachers, and for schools to provide counselling services for those who are experiencing financial difficulties.

The death of Simon Dikgale is a tragic reminder of the toll that financial stress can take on individuals, especially those in the teaching profession. It is a wake-up call for the government, schools, and communities to come together and provide better support for those who are struggling. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family and friends during this difficult time.
