Former South African president and uMkhonto weSizwe Party leader Jacob Zuma was reportedly admitted to a hospital in KwaZulu-Natal after becoming unwell during a political engagement.
According to reports published on Wednesday, Zuma fell ill while attending an event in Msinga on Tuesday. He was subsequently transported to a hospital by ambulance, where he was reportedly admitted for medical assessment.
The reports have not been officially confirmed by Zuma’s family or the MK Party, and details regarding the nature of his reported illness remain unavailable.
Mzwanele Manyi, spokesperson for the JG Zuma Foundation, declined to provide confirmation about Zuma’s reported hospitalisation, stressing that the former president’s medical affairs are private.
However, multiple sources reportedly indicated that Zuma remained at the hospital while undergoing medical checks.
The development comes as Zuma continues to be involved in political activities ahead of South Africa’s upcoming local government elections. He is also expected to appear before the TRC Cases Inquiry later this month, with his testimony scheduled for 22 October.
The situation remains developing, with further information expected once Zuma’s family or political organisation provides an official update.
