Kaizer Chiefs are close to securing CAF Confederation Cup qualification despite a slight dip in form in recent matches.

After a 1-1 draw with Mamelodi Sundowns on Wednesday, Chiefs know that five more points from their remaining three games will guarantee third place in the Betway Premiership this season.

Next up for Chiefs is a trip to Sekhukhune United on Sunday, 10 May, with kickoff at 17:30. A win would put them within touching distance of qualification. Midfielder Siphesihle Ndlovu will miss the match due to suspension after receiving a booking against Sundowns.

Chiefs recorded five consecutive wins between 15 March and 15 April, putting them in a strong position. Since then, they have picked up only three points from a possible 12, losing to Stellenbosch and drawing with Polokwane City, Orlando Pirates and Sundowns.

Five more points in their last three matches would give Chiefs an unassailable lead over fourth-placed AmaZulu.

The draw with Sundowns also helped Orlando Pirates in the title race. Sundowns may see it as a point gained rather than two dropped, as they came from behind to earn a draw while playing more than 25 minutes with ten men.
