The South African Premier Division title race has come down to the final stretch. Mamelodi Sundowns lead with 64 points, while Orlando Pirates follow closely with 62 points. Both teams have three matches remaining.
Sundowns have lost only once in 27 games this season, showing consistent form. Pirates, however, are pushing hard with attacking momentum and have scored more goals overall. The chasing side carries belief and a sense of urgency.
Neither team has an advantage in the number of games left. It is now a straight sprint to the finish, where any mistake could decide the championship.
Kaizer Chiefs sit in third place but are too far back to realistically challenge for the title. AmaZulu and Sekhukhune United are fighting for top-half positions, while clubs at the bottom of the table continue their own battles to avoid relegation.
All eyes remain on the top two. The question now is whether Sundowns hold on with their calm consistency or whether Pirates complete their surge to steal the crown.
