“There Are Certain Journalists Who Are Scared to Come on My Show” – Clement Manyathela Break Silence

In an open statement that has ignited discussions in the media world, Clement Manyathela has asserted that some journalists are deliberately steering clear of his show due to fears of being scrutinized.

“There are certain journalists who are afraid to join my show — and they candidly tell me, ‘hey you, we are frightened of you,’” Manyathela noted, emphasizing what he perceives as a rising unease among media individuals when confronted with direct and tough inquiries.

Recognized for his bold interviewing technique, Manyathela has established a name for himself by holding public figures and fellow media personnel accountable. His show, which thrives on lively discussions and unrestricted dialogue, regularly addresses delicate political and social topics—this style, while often applauded by viewers, seems to daunt some professionals within the field.

This statement has initiated a larger discussion regarding openness, responsibility, and bravery in journalism. Detractors contend that journalists, acting as guardians of the public, should be prepared to participate in venues that require transparency and critical examination. Manyathela’s backers feel his statements highlight a troubling trend of self-censorship and avoidance within the industry.

Nevertheless, others warn against limiting the issue too narrowly. Media experts indicate that hesitance to show up on specific platforms may arise from worries about tone, style, or the chance of being misrepresented rather than fear alone. In a time when public confidence in media is constantly questioned, the relationships between journalists are becoming more and more crucial.

Manyathela’s comments also prompt inquiries regarding the changing landscape of broadcast journalism. As viewers lean towards more challenging and captivating formats, hosts face the challenge of balancing tough inquiries with fairness and dignity—something that not every guest may find easy to handle.

Despite varying opinions, the situation emphasizes an important lesson: journalism involves not only interrogating others but also being open to being questioned oneself. As the media environment continues to evolve, journalists’ readiness to engage in honest, and sometimes uncomfortable, discussions may ultimately influence public trust in the field.

For Manyathela, the takeaway is straightforward—conversations, regardless of how difficult, are vital.

“There are certain journalists who are scared to come on my show — and they tell me straight up, ‘eiy wena, wena siyakusaba.’…” 🥺

Should Clement Manyathela really stop holding journalists accountable just because there’s a risk his show might be canned?🥲 pic.twitter.com/sX08fu6qQl
