Around 9:50 a.m. Wednesday, five men hit a jewelry store in Brooklyn Mall, posing as a customer before grabbing loot and hijacking a Toyota Corolla Cross to flee. A high-speed pursuit through Pretoria ended with a shootout near Station Square Mall, where officers arrested the suspects aged 32 to 38 and seized the vehicle, a rifle with ammo, and all the jewelry.
A security officer was shot but airlifted to hospital in stable condition; no shoppers were harmed.
