Armindo Joaquim Pacula, a 25-year-old Mozambican national, appeared in the Johannesburg Magistrate’s Court on Monday in connection with the murder of popular DJ Warrick “DJ Warras” Stock.
Pacula faces charges of murder, conspiracy to commit murder, and contravention of the Immigration Act. He was arrested on Friday evening during a police operation in Primrose, Ekurhuleni.
The court heard that Pacula is in South Africa without legal documentation and does not have a fixed address. He will remain in police custody for seven days while his immigration status and address are verified.
Pacula, who has short hair, was described by police earlier in the investigation as a tall man with dreadlocks. He told the court he intends to apply for bail and claimed police took his identification documents. He has no funds for legal representation and will apply for Legal Aid.
The first suspect, Victor Majola, was denied bail in January and is due back in court in mid-February. Majola faces charges of murder, premeditated murder, and conspiracy to commit murder. Prosecutors argued he is a flight risk and could interfere with witnesses.
Stock was shot and killed outside the Zambesi Building in Johannesburg’s CBD in December. The State alleges the murder was a planned hit.
