Amapiano star DJ Maphorisa has shared a screenshot of an R8 million royalty payout on social media, amid ongoing allegations from several artists that he withholds royalties and exploits collaborators.
The producer, real name Themba Sonnyboy Sekowe, posted transaction details ranging from over R33,000 to R7 million, crediting NMG Music. He stated this was his second large payout, following a previous R5 million payment.
If Sony cud borrow me a billion mos definitely I will fix the industry 🤭

Maphorisa’s post comes after repeated accusations from artists like Sir Trill, Samthing Soweto, and recently Tebogo G Mashego, who claimed he was owed millions for the hit “Biri Marung.” Maphorisa has denied the allegations, challenging critics to provide proof and asserting that Mashego did not write the song.
The public display of earnings has intensified debate around transparency and fair compensation in the amapiano industry.
