Lieutenant General Dumisani Khumalo has confirmed that kidnapped businessman Jerry Boshoga is involved in illegal drug manufacturing, shedding new light on the high-profile abduction case that has gripped the nation. Boshoga was reportedly taken in a brazen kidnapping, raising alarm among law enforcement and the business community. Authorities had initially focused on his disappearance, prioritising efforts to secure his release and investigate the circumstances surrounding the case. However, Khumalo’s recent statement reveals that Boshoga’s activities may have made him a target for criminal networks.
According to Khumalo, Boshoga’s operations involve the production of illicit substances, though details regarding the scale and type of drugs remain under investigation. The revelation has prompted law enforcement agencies to expand their probe, combining efforts from anti-narcotics units, local police, and intelligence agencies to uncover the full extent of his criminal enterprise.
Experts say the case highlights the risks of involvement in illegal activities, particularly when operating at a level that attracts attention from organised crime groups. The link between Boshoga’s abduction and his illegal business dealings is now a primary line of inquiry, with authorities exploring whether rival factions or syndicates orchestrated the kidnapping.
The public response has been one of shock, as Boshoga had long been viewed as a successful businessman. Community leaders are urging caution, reminding citizens that appearances can be deceptive and that law enforcement must follow due process to ensure justice.
Khumalo emphasised that the investigation is ongoing, and authorities are working tirelessly to apprehend those responsible for Boshoga’s abduction. Officials also stressed the importance of international cooperation in tracking cross-border criminal networks that may be linked to his operations. As the investigation unfolds, law enforcement continues to appeal to the public for any information that could assist in locating Boshoga and dismantling the criminal networks associated with his illegal activities.
