“My Phone Will Tell the Truth”: Mthethwa Majola Break Silence in Court Over Link to DJ Warras’ Death

Victor Mthethwa Majola, the individual facing charges in connection with the death of well-known media personality Warrick “DJ Warras” Stock, has firmly stated his innocence. He is relying on his movements and digital records to prove he was not involved in the incident.

During his court appearances, Majola’s legal team presented his account of where he was on the day the crime occurred. He claims he was in Soweto at the time of the killing, a significant distance from where the event took place. Majola believes that evidence, specifically his phone records, will support his version of events. He recalled being in Soweto, working on his car, and even mentioned that his girlfriend sent him money that day, which he had to withdraw. He stated that their communication about this transaction was documented via SMS messages.

Majola’s defense team argues that this alibi, if confirmed by evidence, would significantly weaken the prosecution’s case and cast doubt on his alleged role in the murder. They contend that cell phone location data, bank records showing the withdrawal, and the SMS exchanges will establish a clear timeline placing Majola in Soweto while the shooting happened elsewhere.

The prosecution, however, maintains that Majola was involved in the planning and execution of the murder. The incident reportedly took place outside a building in Johannesburg in December 2025. Prosecutors assert that the killing was premeditated and intentional, presenting what they describe as circumstantial evidence that they believe connects Majola to the scene.

Majola’s lawyers have strongly refuted these claims, characterizing the state’s case as based on assumptions and lacking complete proof. They emphasize that objective digital evidence, rather than speculation, should be the basis for any judgment. The defense insists that data from cell towers, timestamps of financial transactions, and message logs can provide a minute-by-minute verification of Majola’s movements.

The case has attracted considerable public interest due to DJ Warras’s popularity and the tragic circumstances of his death. While some of the late broadcaster’s supporters are calling for swift justice, others are urging the court to follow proper legal procedures without any pre-judgment.

As the legal proceedings continue, the court is expected to thoroughly review the technical evidence, including mobile phone data and financial records. The ultimate outcome of the case may hinge on whether Majola’s claimed presence in Soweto can be conclusively proven. Majola himself remains confident that factual evidence, not assumptions, will determine his fate, asserting that his phone records and personal communications will ultimately reveal the truth.
