Police in Limpopo have impounded a R1.2 million Scania truck and arrested two men for allegedly transporting stolen chrome.
The suspects, aged 36 and 42, were stopped during a routine patrol on the R579 in the Lebowakgomo area on Sunday. Officers had received a tip-off about a truck matching the vehicle’s description heading towards Gauteng.
A search revealed side tippers loaded with chrome worth an estimated R150,000. The driver and passenger could not produce documentation authorizing possession or transport of the precious metal.

Both were arrested for illegal possession and transportation of suspected stolen chrome. They are set to appear in the Thabamoopo Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday. The truck and tippers were seized as they were allegedly used in the crime.
