An extensive search has been underway since the disappearance of 25-year-olds Nontokozo Mazibuko and Andiswa Sontangane on New Year’s Eve, 31 December 2025, according to a story shared on X. The two women’s corpses were allegedly found today on Randfontein Road, which is located just beyond the Poortjie area, according to the social media post.

As a devastating end to a week-long missing persons case, the report has travelled extensively, although law enforcement has not formally confirmed the circumstances behind their deaths. Locals and internet users alike were understandably worried about the two women’s whereabouts after they vanished during the holiday celebrations.

One user claims that since they were last spotted on New Year’s Eve, the families have been trying to find out where they are. The search operation has been turned into a criminal inquiry following the finding of their corpses on a roadside.

The poster acknowledged the devastating effect the tragedy has had on the victims’ loved ones and extended heartfelt sympathies to their families and friends in the message. Reportedly, authorities are scouring the area around the discovery for clues about what happened and how many lives were lost.

Anyone with knowledge on the women’s whereabouts or the find on Randfontein Road should contact the police immediately, according to the social media report.

The importance of witness statements or other material that could aid authorities in their investigations is highlighted by this call for collaboration. There has been a noticeable uptick in police activity in the Poortjie region as forensic investigations continue, as is customary in such cases.

Many people have taken to social media to express their sorrow and demand justice after hearing the news. Many people have expressed their condolences to the families of the victims, Mazibuko and Sontangane, and pointed out how often these kinds of cases involving young women occur.

Despite the lack of confirmation from a formal police statement as of yet, the report’s specifics about the victims’ whereabouts and names have sparked extensive internet grief. Residents are on high alert while they await further information from the police who are conducting the investigation
