Limpopo Premier Phophi Ramathuba confronted a group of undocumented foreigners during a law enforcement operation in Giyani, telling them to respect South African laws.
The individuals were found with fraudulent documents during a multidisciplinary roadblock involving police, the Border Management Authority, and provincial officials. Ramathuba addressed them firmly at the scene, stating, “You come here, we accommodate you, but you break the law.”
She rejected their explanation that they were traveling to pay homage to a deceased relative, saying the matter would be decided in court. “If you think you have connections, you will call whoever. There’s no one above me in the province. We are tired,” she added.
The operation was part of a provincial effort to strengthen road safety and immigration enforcement.
