Malatji’s Camp Set for Clean Sweep Ahead of ANC Conference, Insiders Say

Sources within the African National Congress (ANC) report that Malatji and his faction have consolidated their support, positioning themselves for a dominant performance at the upcoming party conference. Insiders suggest that his slate is expected to go forward without opposition, signaling a potential clean sweep of key leadership positions.

The development reflects strategic maneuvering within the party, as factions vie for influence ahead of the 2026 local government elections. Analysts say Malatji’s ability to unify support across branches demonstrates both organizational strength and political acumen. “What we’re seeing is the culmination of months of groundwork, alliances, and negotiations,” said one insider familiar with the internal dynamics.

Malatji’s camp has reportedly secured backing from major provincial and regional structures, giving his slate an overwhelming advantage. If predictions hold, the leadership team could face little resistance in ratifying policy positions and shaping the ANC’s strategic direction in the lead-up to next year’s polls.

While the near-consensus within the party may streamline decision-making, political observers caution that lack of opposition can sometimes mask underlying tensions that may resurface after the conference. Internal debates over governance, accountability, and policy priorities could emerge once the leadership slate is officially installed.

Supporters of Malatji argue that a unified leadership will strengthen the ANC’s electoral prospects, allowing the party to present a cohesive message to voters. Critics, however, warn that unchecked consolidation of power could limit debate and marginalize dissenting voices within the movement.

As the conference approaches, all eyes will be on Malatji’s faction to see whether expectations of a clean sweep materialize, and how the outcome will shape the ANC’s trajectory in the critical months ahead.
