High Court Scandal Explodes: Molefe’s R400k Bail Allegedly Bought with R2.5 Million Cash Bribe

Alleged DJ Sumbody Murder Mastermind ‘KT’ Molefe Accused of Paying R2.5 Million Bribe to Secure R400k Bail.

Explosive testimony before the Madlanga Commission has rocked the ongoing murder case of alleged underworld figure Katiso “KT” Molefe, who stands accused of orchestrating multiple killings, including that of popular entertainer DJ Sumbody.

According to a Gauteng detective identified only as Witness A, Molefe allegedly paid R2.5 million in bribes to secure his release on R400,000 bail granted by the Johannesburg High Court earlier this month. The detective claimed the payment influenced the court’s decision to overturn Molefe’s initial bail denial by the Alexandra Magistrates Court.

“Prior to this bail, we had already received information from informers and sources that Katiso Molefe will get bail,” Witness A told the commission. “We were later informed that R2.5 million was paid to make sure of it.”

Molefe, a wealthy businessman accused of murdering Vereeniging engineer Armand Swart in April 2024, has also been linked to the high-profile killings of DJ Sumbody and businessman Vintos. His case has sparked widespread debate about the intersection of money, influence, and justice in South Africa’s criminal justice system.

Judge Brad Wanless of the Johannesburg High Court had earlier ruled that the State’s opposition to Molefe’s bail lacked sufficient evidence, granting him conditional release. However, the new bribery claims cast a dark shadow over that decision.

The Madlanga Commission is expected to continue hearings this week, with investigators probing deeper into alleged judicial corruption and the possible manipulation of high-stakes criminal proceedings
