In a shocking escalation of violence, Katlego Malatjie, secretary of the anti-immigrant activist group Operation Dudula, was allegedly shot dead on Tuesday morning, December 2, 2025. Reports indicate Malatjie was attacked shortly after dropping his child at school.

Eyewitnesses say the assailant opened fire multiple times, leaving Malatjie fatally wounded at the scene. Authorities have launched an investigation, but no arrests have been confirmed at this stage.

This tragic incident comes just weeks after another Operation Dudula member, Dan Hadebe, was killed in similarly violent circumstances. These consecutive attacks have intensified concerns within the organization regarding the safety of its members across the country.

Operation Dudula, known for its controversial campaigns against illegal immigration, has called for increased protection for its activists, warning that targeted attacks threaten the group’s operations and the security of its community programs.

“The repeated targeting of our members is alarming. We are urging law enforcement to act swiftly to prevent further tragedies,” a spokesperson for the group said.

Police have appealed to the public for any information that could assist in tracking down the perpetrators, while community leaders have condemned the killings as “senseless acts of violence” that destabilize local neighborhoods and communities.

Malatjie’s death has sparked a wave of mourning among supporters, highlighting ongoing tensions in South Africa over social, political, and security issues. The investigation is ongoing, and authorities have pledged to bring those responsible to justice.
