Police in Limpopo are searching for two suspects after a 77-year-old farmer was killed during an attack on his farm near Baltimore on Saturday afternoon.
According to police spokesperson Colonel Malesela Ledwaba, the two intruders entered the farmhouse while the farmer was outside tending to cattle. They restrained the farmer’s wife inside the home.
When the farmer returned, he was held at knifepoint, tied up, and assaulted. The attackers then fled with a firearm, mobile phones, and an undisclosed amount of cash.
The farmer’s wife alerted security, and police and neighboring farmers responded. Emergency services found the farmer still bound and unconscious. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
The Provincial Commissioner of Police has instructed law enforcement to use all available resources to find the suspects. Anyone with information is urged to contact Sergeant Simon Ditle at 082 414 1882, Crime Stop at 08600 10111, or to use the MySAPSApp.
