Collen Malatji Disgraced And Suspended For Holding Secret ANCYL Meeting Without Top Key Leaders

The African National Congress Youth League (ANCYL) has suspended its President, Collen Malatji, following claims that he misled party structures in connection with preparations for the league’s upcoming 27th national congress. The suspension comes amid an apparent internal feud between Malatji and ANCYL Deputy Secretary Mntuwoxolo Ngudle.

According to sources within the league, Malatji is accused of holding a parallel meeting that allegedly excluded key leaders, including ANCYL Secretary-General Zwelo Masilela and Treasurer-General Zwelo Masilela. The meeting reportedly concerned preparations and strategic plans for the 27th national congress, raising concerns that the President acted unilaterally and bypassed established structures.

The ANCYL confirmed that the suspension is a precautionary measure as the allegations are investigated. Party insiders say the league is seeking to maintain unity and transparency in its processes, emphasizing that no member is above internal accountability. Officials are expected to conduct a formal inquiry into the circumstances surrounding the meeting and whether it breached the league’s constitution and governance rules.

The feud between Malatji and Ngudle appears to reflect broader tensions within the youth league, as factions prepare for leadership contests and strategic positioning ahead of the national congress. Analysts suggest that the suspension may also have implications for the ANCYL’s influence within the broader ANC, given its role in shaping future leadership and policy directions.

Members of the league and political commentators have reacted with a mix of concern and curiosity, with many calling for a thorough and impartial investigation. Transparency in the process is being highlighted as crucial for maintaining confidence in the ANCYL and preventing factionalism from undermining the league’s credibility.

For now, Collen Malatji’s suspension underscores the ANCYL’s commitment to internal governance and adherence to its rules. The outcome of the investigation could have far-reaching consequences for the league’s leadership and the alignment of key youth factions within the ANC.
