Mchunu Accused Of Failing To Control Infighting Among SAPS Generals Including Masemola And Sibiya

During a meeting, lawmakers raised concern about the growing conflict within the leadership of the South African Police Service. They said the tension between Police Minister Senzo Mchunu, National Commissioner Fannie Masemola, and top officers like General Mkhwanazi and General Sibiya is creating a negative image for the police force. Members of Parliament warned that these personal differences are affecting the whole department and its ability to deliver proper service to citizens.

It was revealed that the working relationship between some of the top officials has broken down badly. The National Commissioner is said to have problems with General Sibiya, and there are also issues between Sibiya and General Mkhwanazi. Lawmakers told them to fix their relationship because the divisions are affecting teamwork inside the police.

The discussion showed that these internal fights have become a serious matter. Instead of focusing on tackling crime and improving community safety, much attention is now being spent on leadership clashes and power struggles. This situation has raised worries that the constant disagreements could weaken public confidence in the police.

Parliament wants the senior officers to put their differences aside and find a way to rebuild trust among themselves. They reminded them that their main responsibility is to protect South Africans and not to fight among each other.

Many observers believe that unity at the top is necessary for the police service to function effectively. The hope is that the public warning from Parliament will help these leaders focus on their main duties and bring stability back into the police leadership.
