It All Happens In Front Of My House, Woman Reveals Who Fired 11 Bullets On Brown Mogotsi Car

A quiet Vosloorus evening erupted into chaos on Monday night when a man driving a red car, later identified as Brown Mogotsi, allegedly jumped out of his speeding vehicle and began firing shots in a residential area, leaving residents shaken and terrified.

According to police and eyewitness accounts the incident occurred in the Vosloorus Extension 9 area. A local woman who wished to remain anonymous for safety reasons said she was at home with her partner when the terrifying gunfire shattered the calm.

I heard screeching tires outside followed by loud bangs. When I looked through the window I saw a man jump out of a red car holding a gun. He started shooting like he was in a movie she said. My partner pulled me down to the floor we thought we were going to die.

Police confirmed that Mogotsi believed to be in his early thirties was apprehended a few hours later after an intensive search. Officers said several shell casings were recovered from the scene and the firearm suspected to have been used in the incident has since been confiscated for ballistic testing.

While no injuries were reported, multiple vehicles and a nearby house were struck by bullets leaving a trail of shattered windows and bullet holes as grim reminders of the night violence.

Ekurhuleni District Police spokesperson, Captain Nomvula Mabaso, said swift coordination between community members and law enforcement led to the suspect’s arrest. We are still investigating the motive, but preliminary findings suggest alcohol or road rage may have been a contributing factor Mabaso stated.

Residents described Mogotsi actions as reckless and demonic with some speculating he had been chasing someone before the shooting started. Community leaders have since called for increased police patrols in the area, saying incidents of gun violence have been rising steadily in recent months.

This community is living in fear. We can’t have people pulling out guns in the middle of the street like it’s the Wild West said community activist Thabo Mthethwa.

Mogotsi is expected to appear in the Vosloorus Magistrate Court later this week on charges of attempted murder unlawful discharge of a firearm and reckless endangerment of the public.

As police continue to probe the motive behind the late-night shooting spree residents remain on edge hoping the red fury that tore through their quiet street never returns.
