Mihlali Ndamase faces R580,000 tax bill as SARS issues final demand

Influencer and beauty entrepreneur Mihlali Ndamase is facing a severe financial and legal challenge after the South African Revenue Service (SARS) issued a final demand for a tax debt that has grown to over R580,000, according to an exclusive report by Sunday World .

According to Sunday World, which viewed the letter of demand from SARS, the Soweto-born model and content creator initially owed more than R490,000 in unpaid personal income tax . This debt increased to over R580,000 after SARS imposed penalties and interest exceeding R85,000 .

The revenue service sent a final letter of demand on June 5, urging Ndamase to settle the amount or enter into a payment plan . The letter stated that failure to comply could lead to severe consequences, including SARS seeking a court order to attach and auction her assets to recover the debt.

The tax authority also outlined that it could legally appoint a third party who owes Ndamase money to pay SARS directly .

The emergence of the tax bill comes with a stark contrast. Sunday World reported that the tax demand arrived just a month after Ndamase made headlines for a lavish purchase: two Hermes Birkin handbags for R1-million, which she described as an investment .

This situation highlights the increasing scrutiny on high-earning influencers and content creators by revenue services.

It also serves as a public reminder of the legal obligation for all citizens, including celebrities, to meet their tax responsibilities.
