Minister of Justice and Constitutional Development, Mmamoloko Kubayi, has expressed optimism regarding the upcoming extradition of two brothers accused in connection with the murder of South African rapper Kiernan “AKA” Forbes and his friend Tebello Motsoane. The tragic shooting occurred in February 2023 outside a restaurant on Florida Road in Durban, sending shockwaves across the country and highlighting ongoing concerns about violent crime.

The two brothers, Siyabonga Gezani Ndimande and Malusi David Ndimande, have been resisting extradition from Eswatini since February 2024, when they were formally charged in South Africa. However, they recently abandoned their appeal against extradition, signaling their likely return to South Africa to face justice. The KwaZulu-Natal National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) confirmed that Eswatini authorities have officially notified them of this abandonment.

The murder case involves a total of seven men, with five of them—Lindokuhle Thabani Mkhwanazi (30), Lindani Zenzele Ndimande (35), Siyanda Eddie Myeza (21), Mziwethemba Harvey Gwabeni (36), and Lindokuhle Lindo Ndimande (29)—already scheduled to stand trial in South Africa in July next year. Authorities have emphasized that the extradition of Siyabonga and Malusi Ndimande will not delay the commencement of the trial, ensuring that justice proceeds without further disruption.

Minister Kubayi’s statement reflects the government’s commitment to upholding the rule of law and ensuring accountability in high-profile cases. The extradition is seen as a crucial step in bringing all accused parties to justice and providing closure to the families of Forbes and Motsoane. As South Africa prepares for the trial, authorities remain focused on ensuring a fair and transparent judicial process, reinforcing public confidence in the country’s criminal justice system.

The case continues to draw national attention, highlighting the ongoing challenges of cross-border crime and the importance of international cooperation in securing the extradition of fugitives.
