Trouble for Top Police Officers Implicated at Madlanga Commission as Ramaphosa Urged to Oust Them

The Activists and Citizens Forum has asked President Cyril Ramaphosa and Acting Police Minister Firoz Cachalia to take strong action against police officers linked to corruption at the Madlanga Commission of Inquiry.

The group said the officers accused of wrongdoing should be removed from their positions right away. They believe keeping them in office while investigations continue could harm the country’s fight against corruption and make it hard for people to trust the police.

The Madlanga Commission, which is sitting in Pretoria, is looking into serious claims made by KwaZulu-Natal Police Commissioner Nhlanhla Mkhwanazi. He accused some senior police officials, including Minister Senzo Mchunu, of corruption, interference in police operations, and having connections with criminal groups.

According to the Forum, the information coming out of the commission is very disturbing. They say the evidence shows that criminal networks may have deeply infiltrated the police and justice system.

They believe that this situation is not just about a few bad officers but could point to a bigger problem where powerful people and criminal gangs are working together. The group is warning that this could destroy public trust and make it difficult for honest officers to do their jobs.

They are now urging President Ramaphosa to act quickly instead of waiting for the commission to end. The Forum says South Africans need to see that the government is serious about cleaning up corruption and protecting the justice system.
