‘Where Are All Those ANC Millionaires?’: Mashaba Throws Shade After Luthuli House Raid

On Thursday, the Sheriff of the Court confiscated office furniture, computer equipment, and culinary appliances from the ANC’s headquarters, Luthuli House, in Johannesburg, with a total value of approximately R140,000. Following the party’s alleged failure to satisfy a long-standing debt, the action has further underscored its deteriorating financial situation.

Herman Mashaba, the leader of ActionSA, expressed his disbelief at the development, querying how a ruling party with numerous wealthy benefactors could permit such a situation to occur. “There is certainly an underlying illogicality in this situation.” The ANC has a significant number of Dollar Billionaires and Millionaires who have gained their fortunes as a result of their service as ANC Cadres. What is the reason for their refusal to assist their organisation with the R140,000.00 debt? Hopefully, the answer will be revealed in due course. Mashaba composed the text.

The incident has reignited the debate regarding the financial management of the ANC and the accountability of its affluent members. Mashaba’s sentiments were echoed by a significant number of South Africans, who noted that the party has facilitated the accumulation of substantial wealth for numerous prominent business figures and legislators.

Observers have observed that the ANC’s capacity to manage its affairs is detrimentally affected by the embarrassment of the Sheriff of the Court’s assault on Luthuli House. It also raises concerns regarding the governing party’s plans to finance forthcoming election campaigns in the face of increasing debt and salary payment issues.

Not for the first time, the ANC has been subjected to public scrutiny due to financial difficulties. In recent years, employees at Luthuli House have organised protests in protest of their withheld salaries, while service providers have initiated legal proceedings to recover outstanding payments.

Critics contend that the ANC’s elite have abandoned the movement that once propelled them to prominence, which is emphasised by Mashaba’s comments. At present, the Sheriff’s visit functions as yet another symbolic reminder of the party’s decline.

Something surely doesn’t make sense here. ANC has quite a number of Dollar Billionaires and Millionaires who made their fortunes because of being ANC Cadres.
Why are they not helping their organization with R140 000.00 debt?
Hopefully time will tell! https://t.co/7NcZ04pxOn
