A well-known Alexandra businessman and president of the local Parliament, Vincent “Vinny” Ndima, was shot and killed in the early hours of this morning.
Ndima was travelling with his friend, along 13th Avenue near Joe Nhlanhla Street when their vehicle came under heavy fire from unknown gunmen. Witnesses say the attackers unleashed a hail of bullets, leaving behind roughly 40 spent cartridges at the scefled.
The friend is said to have fired back before the suspects fled. Ndima died on the spot, while the friend was rushed to hospital after sustaining injuries.
