Tony Yengeni, a long-standing member of the ANC, has issued a serious warning after shocking revelations from KwaZulu-Natal’s police commissioner, Nhlanhla Mkhwanazi. Mkhwanazi made serious accusations about some senior ANC officials, claiming they were interfering with police investigations and working together with criminal groups. His statements have caused a lot of concern across political and law enforcement circles, especially because KwaZulu-Natal has long struggled with violence, political killings, and organized crime.

In a clear and direct message on social media, Yengeni expressed his worries about what might happen if anyone harms Mkhwanazi. He warned that if something were to happen to the police commissioner, the country might face serious consequences. Yengeni stressed that Mkhwanazi’s bravery in speaking out was a crucial step in fighting corruption and crime. He added that if officials or authorities tried to silence or threaten Mkhwanazi, it would only lead to more public distrust in law enforcement and could cause a crisis at a national level.

Yengeni’s remarks come at a time when many people are concerned about the safety of whistleblowers and officials who speak against political interference. Various groups in civil society have warned that corruption within the police and government weakens trust among the public and allows violent crimes to continue unchecked.

So far, Minister Mchunu has not responded publicly to the allegations made by Mkhwanazi. The Presidency and the ANC’s leadership have also not issued official statements. However, there are reports that discussions are happening behind the scenes to try to manage the situation and prevent further damage.

Experts warn that these allegations and Yengeni’s strong words could cause divisions within the ANC, especially as the party prepares for local elections in 2026. The focus remains on what action the government will take to protect Mkhwanazi and whether they will try to discredit his claims or support him. For now, the country is watching closely to see what happens next.

If they make that mistake & touch Mkhwanazi in any way..then this country will never be the same again..! pic.twitter.com/HeNsPpZ5uR
