National Assembly Speaker Thoko Didiza has confirmed she is still considering a motion of no confidence against President Cyril Ramaphosa. The motion was submitted by the MK Party.

Speaking at a committee meeting, Didiza explained that the motion is undergoing a technical review. This process ensures it follows all parliamentary rules before it can be scheduled for a debate. She stated that the motion has not yet been added to the Assembly’s program and is waiting for a response from the MK Party on the review.

“The process is ongoing,” Didiza said, noting that such scrutiny is a standard procedure to maintain the integrity of motions.

The MK Party, which has been critical of the President’s leadership, resubmitted the motion after receiving initial feedback. It must still meet specific requirements to move forward.

This development adds to the political tension in South Africa. The situation highlights ongoing debates about governance and accountability. Political analysts note that the review process, while routine, will affect the timing and potential impact of the motion.

For now, the public is waiting for a decision from the Speaker’s office on whether the motion will be admitted for a full debate.
