Former South African President Jacob Zuma has urged African nations to unite and protect their sovereignty. He made these comments while delivering a leadership lecture at the University of Professional Studies in Accra, Ghana.
Zuma stated that African countries should not allow outside forces to create division. “The era of dividing Africa to serve foreign agendas is over. The days of Africa dancing to foreign drums are over. We shall beat our own drum,” he said.
He praised Ghana for its role in promoting stability and integration on the continent.
Zuma also used his speech to explain his recent political moves. He argued that while the African National Congress (ANC) liberated South Africa politically in 1994, it is no longer able to deliver what he calls “total liberation.” He said this includes freedom from economic challenges like poverty and unemployment.
He stated that his new party, the MK Party, is now the only organization that can achieve this goal for the South African people.
