Orlando Pirates have announced the departure of midfielder Ndabayithethwa “Phillip” Ndlondlo, making him the fifth player to leave the club during the current off-season.

Ndlondlo, who joined the Buccaneers in 2022, is now a free agent and can sign with any club. The 28-year-old had a promising start under coach Jose Riveiro but saw his playing time reduced last season. His exit was anticipated after he was left out of the team’s pre-season preparations.

In an official statement, the club thanked Ndlondlo for his contributions and professionalism and wished him well for the future.

In a related move, the Pirates also confirmed that winger Monnapule Saleng will be sent on loan to Orbit College for the upcoming season. Saleng was previously a key player for the team but has recently found first-team opportunities limited.

The club’s rebuild has seen five players released: Ndlondlo, Innocent Maela, Miguel Timm, Thabiso Monyane, and Paseka Mako. Monyane and Mako have since joined rival team Kaizer Chiefs.

Meanwhile, Orlando Pirates are actively strengthening their squad, having already signed nine new players. The team is currently on a pre-season tour in Spain, where they will play a series of friendly matches to prepare for the new campaign.
