Hundreds of uMkhonto weSizwe (MK) Party supporters brought parts of Durban’s city center to a standstill during a protest march today. The demonstrators walked from Curries Fountain to the Durban City Hall to voice their grievances.

The march began mid-morning. Protesters carried signs and sang songs as they moved through the central business district. The route caused significant traffic delays along Dr Pixley ka Isaka Seme Street and surrounding areas, disrupting commuters and public transport.

Upon reaching City Hall, MK Party leaders submitted a list of demands. They called for government action on issues including poor service delivery, high unemployment, and corruption. Party leaders warned that if their concerns are not addressed, they will organize more protests across the province.

Police reported that the event was largely peaceful and no major incidents occurred. Officers were present to monitor the situation and prevent disruptions.

Local residents and business owners had mixed reactions. Some supported the protest as a legitimate form of expression, while others were frustrated by the economic disruption caused by the march.

The event underscores the MK Party’s growing influence in KwaZulu-Natal, as it seeks to position itself as an alternative for marginalized communities.
