A second-half goal from Gaston Sirino gave Kaizer Chiefs a 1-0 victory, securing their third consecutive win in the Betway Premiership. The result keeps Amakhosi in second place on the league table.
Chiefs had an opportunity to move to the top of the standings after leaders Durban City dropped points. However, Sekhukhune United’s 3-0 win over Orbit College propelled them into first place.
This is the first time since the 2019/20 season that Kaizer Chiefs have won their first three league matches, giving them a strong start in their pursuit of a first league title in ten years. Their last near-miss was in 2020, when they led the table for over a year but ultimately lost the title on the final day of the season.
Their main rivals, Mamelodi Sundowns and Orlando Pirates, have both dropped points early in the campaign but will have a chance to close the gap in their upcoming matches.
