MK Party Faces Internal Turmoil as Expulsions and Power Struggles Emerge

The uMkhonto weSizwe (MK) party is grappling with internal conflicts that threaten its stability and future direction. A senior member is set to be expelled next week over allegations of misconduct and factional betrayal, sources within the party reveal.

This marks the latest in a series of disciplinary actions causing unrest within the party. Meanwhile, co-founder Jabulani Khumalo, who was sidelined earlier this year, is reportedly attempting to regain control, mobilizing supporters against the current leadership.

Tensions have escalated further with claims that EFF leader Julius Malema sent Floyd Shivambu to destabilize the MK from within. While Shivambu denies the allegations, MK insiders say relations between the two parties have worsened due to suspicions of political interference.

A leaked voice memo has added fuel to the fire, with an unidentified speaker criticizing excessive social media activity in support of Shivambu. The remark has fueled speculation about factional divides and loyalty within the party.

Amid the infighting, one member’s comment that the party needs “fresssssssssssssh air” has been interpreted as a call for new leadership and an end to internal disputes. How the MK navigates these challenges will determine its future cohesion and political standing.
