Opinion: Here 3 Major Issues that our president Cyril Ramaphosa is currently dealing with

Our President, Cyril Ramaphosa, is looked at as the leader of South Africa. However with that comes many responsibilities, which includes dealing with issues that affect the Country in negative ways. Here are three major issues that he is currently dealing with.

United States Tariffs :

The United States has decided to impose a 30 percent tariff on South African imports, which may have a considerable impact on industries that rely on imports.

Our President’s current Priority is to protect our export industry and it seems he is doing this by engaging with the United States to enhance mutually beneficial trade and investment relations.

Claims of targeted attacks :

Another issue coming directly from the US is the claim that White Farmers are being targeted in attacks in South Africa. The US State Department’s Bureau of Democracy, Human Rights & Labor, claim that attacks against White Farmers in South Africa are not ordinary.

However our government and our President Cyril Ramaphosa have labelled notions that there is a genocide against White South Africans as false and said while there was crime in South Africa, the majority of victims were Black.

Asked to resign :

The third issue our president is currently dealing with comes from inside our Country. Jacob Zuma, our former President, has demanded that Cyril Ramaphosa resigns.

Claiming that if the President does resign by Friday, he will take legal action. He also made two other demands along with this. The list of his demands are below.

While it’s unknown whether the President will resign or not, it’s clear that he is dealing with a lot of things right now and a legal case will just be adding more unnecessary stress to those things.

While it’s currently unknown whether our President will be successful in dealing with these issues or not, I believe, at the moment, we should still have faith in him as South Africa’s President.
