EFF’s Marshall Dlamini Steps Down from Parliament to Focus on Party Rebuilding

EFF leader Julius Malema has announced that the party’s Secretary General, Marshall Dlamini, will leave his parliamentary position to dedicate his efforts to strengthening the party ahead of the 2026 local government elections.

Speaking at a media briefing, Malema explained that internal assessments highlighted the need for full-time leadership to rebuild grassroots structures and enhance the party’s organisational capacity. He stressed that parliamentary responsibilities often limit leaders’ ability to focus on party development, which is now a top priority.

“We require a Secretary General who is fully committed to organisational work without being divided by parliamentary duties. Marshall is the right person for this task,” Malema said. He praised Dlamini’s experience and deep understanding of the EFF’s operations, making him well-suited for the role.

Dlamini’s departure from the National Assembly is not an exit from politics but a strategic move to bolster the party’s preparations for the upcoming elections. His replacement in Parliament will be announced in the coming weeks.

The EFF plans to ramp up its mobilisation efforts nationwide, with a strong focus on community engagement and expanding its local presence ahead of 2026.
