Ex-Advocate Teffo Alleges High-Profile Links to Gun Used in Senzo Meyiwa Murder

Disbarred former advocate Malesela Teffo has stirred fresh controversy by naming the alleged owner of the firearm used in the 2014 killing of Bafana Bafana captain Senzo Meyiwa. In an interview on *Podcast and Chill with MacG*, Teffo implicated well-known figures in the music and legal industries, reigniting public debate over the unsolved case.

Teffo claimed that Longwe Twala, who was present at the Vosloorus home where Meyiwa was shot, had brought an unlicensed gun to the scene. According to Teffo, the weapon—a .38 Special revolver—belonged to Longwe’s father, veteran music producer Sello “Chicco” Twala.

“Longwe took his father’s unlicensed firearm to intimidate Senzo and his friend,” Teffo alleged, referencing an affidavit he claimed to possess.

But his accusations went further. Teffo later suggested the same gun was actually owned by Advocate George Baloyi, the state prosecutor in the Meyiwa trial. He claimed Baloyi’s son, Tshepo, died years later in an accidental shooting involving the same firearm.

“The same gun was involved in two deaths a decade apart,” Teffo said, adding that Baloyi and Chicco Twala are allegedly half-brothers.

Teffo also addressed why singer Kelly Khumalo, Meyiwa’s then-girlfriend and a witness to the shooting, was never arrested. He insisted six arrest warrants were issued, but only five were acted upon—excluding Khumalo.

“Baloyi didn’t want Kelly to testify and reveal the truth,” Teffo claimed, suggesting a cover-up to protect powerful individuals.

The interview has sparked heated reactions online, with some demanding a renewed investigation into the gun’s origins, while others dismissed Teffo’s claims as unsubstantiated.

Kelly Khumalo, who has repeatedly denied involvement, appeared to respond with a social media post stating, “Enough is Enough.”

Teffo, previously removed as an advocate, has a history of controversial statements. Yet, his latest allegations have resonated with those who believe key figures in Meyiwa’s murder remain unpunished.

As speculation grows, the central questions linger: Who really killed Senzo Meyiwa, and will the full truth ever come to light?
