“It’s Worse Than People Think” – DA Rising Star Liam Jacobs Defects to Patriotic Alliance in Explosive Exit

In a bombshell move that has sent shockwaves through South African politics, former Democratic Alliance (DA) rising star Liam Jacobs has defected to the Patriotic Alliance (PA), delivering a scathing indictment of his former party’s internal culture.

“I could not be part of that for another day,” Jacobs declared, leaving the DA with a cryptic warning: “What’s happening behind closed doors does not reflect what voters are promised—and it’s worse than people think.”

Sources close to Jacobs claim his resignation followed heated internal disputes over the DA’s grassroots engagement and candidate selection processes, with the final straw believed to be a clash over the party’s strategic direction. While DA leadership has dismissed his departure as inconsequential, party insiders admit the exit has rattled senior figures.

Jacobs, known for his strong community ties, has thrown his weight behind the PA, praising it as a party that “actually listens to the ground.” In a thinly veiled jab at the DA, he added: “The PA isn’t obsessed with managing optics—they’re focused on delivering real results.”
