Former uMkhonto weSizwe Party (MKP) Chief Whip Mzwanele Manyi has dismissed allegations surrounding his removal from the position, calling it “political manoeuvring.” In an interview with TheCMShow, Manyi insisted his dismissal was not based on performance or competence.
“This is just the MKP engaging in political manoeuvring,” he said. “The public will soon learn the real reason behind these changes.”
Earlier this week, the MKP announced parliamentary leadership changes, removing Manyi as Chief Whip after only a few months in the role. The decision came as a surprise, given Manyi’s vocal support for the party and his rapid rise within its ranks.
Despite the change, Manyi affirmed his commitment to the MKP. “This is my party,” he said. “No matter the role, I will always support the MKP and its goals.” He did not elaborate on the reasons for the reshuffle but hinted that more details would emerge. “Let’s see how things unfold. In politics, timing is everything.”
Manyi, a media mogul and former government spokesperson, was an early MKP member known for his strong rhetoric and alignment with the party’s values. His removal has sparked speculation about internal power struggles or strategic shifts ahead of the 2026 municipal elections. However, the MKP has described the move as part of a routine leadership review without further explanation.
